Went to see the Phillips exhibit today at the LACMA and...wow. Reproductions of those paintings don't even begin to do them justice. I was struck by Degas'
Melancholy and i thought all of Pierre Bonnard's (who i had never heard of before) work,
Rivera in particular, was amazing. The Monets were as beautiful as expected, and Renoir's
Luncheon of the Boating Party did not disappoint.
Also saw
Spanglish with Sara last night. Nice movie. Sweet, doesn't over reach and offers a non-fairy tale ending that vindicates the previous two hours of film.
